The Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZA) recently launched a set of incentive packages to help the free zone company from coping up against COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative was launched to ensure business continuity and mitigate the impacts of this public health crisis. Let us find out more about this move and how you can qualify for the said incentive.
Free Zone Company To Receive Economic Packages from DAFZA
DAFZA said in a statement that the government launched the said packages to mitigate the impact of the crisis on businesses. Aside from supporting the citizens, they stand in solidarity with Dubai businesses in times of crisis. The agency hopes the economic packages will help the free zone company sector overcome their economic loss amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Financial Relief
The incentive includes postponing all lease payments up to three months. This initiative aims to lessen the economic burden in the business sector while shutting down their operations. The DAFZA will refund the security deposits on free zone company leased spaces. The businessmen can resume paying their lease on an installment basis once the pandemic crisis in Dubai subsides.
Meanwhile, the DAFZA will exempt the new free zone company from paying the registration, licensing fees, as well as company fines. According to DAFZA Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, they strive to provide an ideal environment for the free zone sector. The DAFZA also hopes the business sector can still grow and expand their operations despite the global economic conditions.
Preventive Security Measures
Aside from providing economic relief, the DAFZA also launched preventive measures in the free zone company area to contain COVID-19. The DAFZA organized an emergency committee to monitor all the operations happening in the free zone. The committee ensures to implement and follow all the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
Remote Work System
The DAFZA also implemented a 100% remote work system for the free zone company sector. The businessmen can use the buildings' advanced technological infrastructure to implement work from home policy. The business owners and their employees are free to use free zone’s electronic and smart applications to keep their business running virtually.
DAFZA’s Director-General, Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni, said the government is willing to lend their facilities and support services to the free zone sector. The agency hopes that these measures will help survive the businesses both in short and long-term. The government is keen on helping the businesses cope up as they’re vital to Dubai’s economic growth.
The Health Measures
DAFZA urges the free zone company sector to also implement security measures to guard their employee's health and safety. The government also closed all external facilities in the free zone area. This includes food courts, etc, to prevent the gathering of a crowd.
DAFZA also launched comprehensive campaigns to disinfect and sterilize all buildings, facilities, streets, and warehouses within the free zone area. Despite the dire effects of COVID-19, Dubai is in top shape to counter the public health crisis. The government assures investors they’ll still have a safe and flourishing environment while doing business in Dubai.
